Regulatory Filing Data

SEC EDGAR — Form 4 Insider Trade Filings

All insider trade data on StreetIdea.com is sourced directly from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's public EDGAR database. Form 4 filings are legally required disclosures submitted by company insiders (officers, directors, and 10%+ shareholders) within two business days of a transaction. This data is in the public domain.

Market Data

Finnhub.io — Stock Quotes & Company Profiles

Real-time and historical stock price data, company profiles (sector, industry, executive names, market cap), and earnings calendar data are provided by Finnhub.io via their REST API. Quote data is refreshed hourly. Company profiles are refreshed weekly. Data is subject to a 15-minute delay on the free tier.

News Aggregation

RSS News Feeds — Headlines & Summaries Only

Financial news headlines and short summaries (2–3 sentences) are aggregated from publicly available RSS feeds published by established financial news outlets. We display headlines and excerpts only — we do not reproduce full article text. All articles link directly to the original publisher. Sources include Reuters, MarketWatch, Yahoo Finance, Seeking Alpha, and The Motley Fool.

2. Data Processing & Automation

Insider Trades

Form 4 XML filings are fetched from SEC EDGAR's RSS feed every 30 minutes.
We parse the XML and extract: ticker symbol, insider name, title, transaction type (purchase/sale), shares, price per share, total value, and filing date.
Insiders are automatically classified as "C-Suite" if their title contains CEO, CFO, COO, President, or similar keywords.
No human editorial review is applied to individual trades — data is shown as filed with the SEC.
Errors or omissions in source filings will be reflected in our data.

Stock Prices

Prices are fetched from Finnhub's /quote endpoint once per hour during market hours.
Prices shown may be delayed by up to 15 minutes from Finnhub's feed.
Market cap figures are computed from Finnhub's reported share count and price.

News Articles

RSS feeds are polled every 10 minutes.
Articles are deduplicated by URL hash. Only new URLs are stored.
No AI-generated summaries are used — all summaries are the original RSS excerpt provided by the publisher.
Category classification (markets, earnings, insider, economy, crypto) is assigned by keyword matching on the article title and source.

3. Accuracy & Corrections

StreetIdea.com displays data as received from primary sources without modification. We do not independently verify the accuracy of SEC filings, Finnhub data, or RSS content.

For insider trade corrections: contact the SEC directly or notify the filing company.
For price data errors: these typically resolve automatically on the next hourly refresh.

StreetIdea.com displays Google AdSense advertisements. Ads are served automatically by Google and are not editorially selected by us. Ad content does not influence the financial data we display.

5. Premium Features

Some features on StreetIdea.com (extended historical data, 2-year and All Time insider trade history) require a premium subscription. Premium access does not change the underlying data — it only extends the date range available to view. All data is still sourced from SEC EDGAR as described above.
